3D Motion Analysis and Training Opportunities From Bio Kinetics and the ABCA Research Committee

The ABCA Research Committee and Bio Kinetics (baseball’s first “think tank”) have teamed up for both a hitting and pitching research project that will take place each week, this June and July. Players will travel to the Bio Kinetics 34,000 square foot laboratory located in South Jordan, Utah. Participants will go through the same analysis process that more than 3400 Major League players have gone through since 1985. Including 25 Hall of Famers, 18 MVP’s, 10 Cy Young Award Winners, 14 Batting Titles, 53 Silver Sluggers and 114 All-Stars.

Space is limited to the first 36 registered participants.

“WHY” Choose Bio Kinetics:

Hitting and pitching are three-dimensional activities and therefore requires a three- dimensional measuring device. By-far the most valuable information is what you CAN’T see, such as forces, toques etc. Your three-dimensional report will contain a detailed analysis of your hitting or pitching technique performed using multiple high-speed, high- resolution video cameras and computerized motion analysis.
The results of your analysis are then presented in 5 sections each corresponding to an essential and invariant element of hitting or pitching mechanics. Using computer generated “computer images” to show body position and body movement at critical phases in your swing or delivery. Graphs of specific motion parameters are then generated for each phase. The analysis uses numerical measurements made from these graphs.

Performance Index:

In addition to writing the first three-dimensional analysis software, Bio Kinetics has also created a “Performance Index” based on 38 years of measuring the movement patterns of the greatest players in the world. Based on our exclusive library, we have the scientific evidence and understanding for how to achieve the optimal, healthiest, and most efficient hitting and pitching mechanics. We can numerically compare your biomechanics to some of the all-time greats. As well as equip you with the knowledge and tools for developing that “effortless power” which is a result of an efficient kinetic link, the proper kinematic sequence and optimal timing.

Training:

Using the same technology over the same time period, Bio Kinetics has performed hundreds of three-dimensional motion analysis on virtually every hitting and pitching drills you can imagine. Many of the drills we’ve studied did MUCH more harm than good! Based on the analyses results as well as the performance index, our computer prescribes the training for each individual athlete, adapted to the individual need, taking the guess-work entirely out of the equation.

Training Dates:

Session 1: June 5 – 9

Session 2: June 12 – 15

Session 3: June 19 – 22

Session 4: June 26 – 29

Session 5: July 3 – 6

Session 6: July 10 – 13

Session 7: July 17 – 20

Session 8: July 26 – 29

Schedule:

Video Capture and movement assessment will take place on Monday, followed by, three days of training dictated by the results of the 3D motion analysis.

Program Fee:

There is no cost to participate in the research project. The fee to purchase a 3D motion analysis and training is $2,500.00. ABCA Discount Code 19851945. (Save $750.00) $1,750.00 Includes:

  • Three-Dimensional Motion Analysis
